St Patrick's Catholic Primary School, Mortlake
WINNER - Private School - $5,000,001 - $10,000,000
This project involved the construction of a new three-storey building which included one level of basement, and two levels of General Learning Areas, Breakout spaces and Administration facilities. The school is located in the densely populated heart of Sydney’s inner suburbs. Consequently the project required some careful negotiations with the residents to enable the excavation of the approx 1000m2 basement car park, and the installation of metal cladding to the external facade. This result is an exemplary building for modern learning within an established historic area of Sydney.
St Andrew's Primary School, Marayong
WINNER - PRIVATE SCHOOLS - $1,000,001 - $5,000,000St. Andrew’s Primary School, Marayong involved close coordination with Stanton Dahl Architects and the Catholic Education Diocese of Parramatta to deliver a dual stage project which serviced the school with much needed learning facilities. The Stage 1 building incorporated GLA’s, breakout spaces and some outdoor seating to accommodate roughly 120 students. The Stage 2 landscaping and Canteen refurbishment allowed the school to demolish some old buildings to make way for some much needed open landscaping and play areas.
St Pius X High School, Adamstown NSW
WINNER - Commercial Projects - $3 - 6 MillionThe project at St Pius X High School, Adamstown NSW involved demolition of the existing library, the construction of a new two-storey Library and Forecourt. The stunning library includes expansive Aramax roofing, grand timber amphitheatre, seniors learning area, modern study and creation spaces. The building exterior includes beautiful sandstone cladding and a giant glass facade overlooking new landscaping works. A towering forecourt structure provides covered outdoor congregation space and links to existing and new buildings.
Inaburra School, Bangor
WINNER - Private School - $10 MIllion & Over
The staged project at Inaburra School, Bangor involved the construction of a new 4 storey building which included 2 levels of basement, open learning areas, staﬀ rooms, wet area teaching areas and the refurbishment of existing classrooms. The project involved the excavation and removal of over 10,000 cubic metres of general solid waste and natural materials, and was completed in 12 months within an active school environment, maintaining access to all key areas of the school.
Ferrari Maserati Showroom, Waterloo
WINNER - Interior Fitouts - $2 - 2.5 MillionThe Ferrari Maserati Waterloo project involved a complete strip and fit out of an existing building including the construction of a new showroom, offices, lounge areas and reception that was successfully achieved by Reitsma whilst the Client was fully operating during construction. With the use of European imported finishes such as the tiles, niches, carpet, vinyl and timber flooring the car showroom provides a sense of a modern and elegant showroom whilst staying true to the Italian Ferrari and Maserati Corporate Image.
Maserati, Alfa & Fiat, Artarmon
WINNER - REFURBISHMENT/RENOVATION/EXTENSION - $3-5 MILLION
Reitsma had approximately three months to complete this design and construct showroom. Works were completed to schedule at a very high quality finish. Works included all new services to the existing building, new glass facades, new vehicle lift, and new Corporate Image finishes throughout.

Winner - Tertiary Building - $2-3 Million
These works comprised alterations and refurbishment of an existing two storey warehouse to accommodate “The International Screen Academy. Specialist studios, tutorial and consultation rooms, a cinema and all associated facilities were built to include state of the art technology. The latest sound, recording and lighting facilities were essential to the successful operation of the Academy. Limited storage and access were an ongoing issue with the Waterloo traffic. The existing building was well adapted and presented. Simple detailing and finishes were well used to provide very appropriate spaces for the Academy.
OLSH College, Kensington
Winner - Private Schools - Under $10 Million
This design and construct contract was for six new Classrooms, a commercial kitchen, gym and fitness centre, a stage, and all associated facilities. There is a basement car park and a large roof recreation area. The structure is concrete framed with post-tensioned slabs and finishes include brick, glazed curtain walling and exposed steel. The roof recreation area is 1500square metres with an impressive labyrinth created with ceramic tiles. Waterproofing this area required detailed attention. The working area was severely restricted, particularly for the major excavation works. The basement area was thus completed first to provide on-site construction storage and parking.
This is a high standard building maximising a very limited site.
